Getting The Most Out Of Your Cape Breton Vacation
The Cabot Trail
Make sure you allow for a full day on the Cabot Trail!
The first step to planning your Cabot Trail journey is one simple decision: clockwise, or counter-clockwise? If anyone in your party is sensitive to heights, you might consider travelling clockwise, putting some space between your vehicle and the ocean.
For a view of the sun setting over the ocean, we would recommend traveling counter-clockwise.
Be sure to bring a map! Cellular service is unreliable in some parts of the trail; to avoid losing your way, make sure you have your own map. Ask our front desk staff, or pick one up at a Visitor Information Center.
Take advantage of gas stations when you see them – there is often some distance between stations.
Be respectful of the wildlife while you’re here. There’s a good chance you’ll see a moose on the trail; please keep in mind that it’s best to enjoy them from a distance.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We’ll be happy to assist in any way we can.
